The Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and Università degli Studi di Trieste (UniTS) are offering a 24-months postdoctoral position linked to the FP7 project CORINF (PITN-2010-264951), starting on September-December 2012.
Recruited researchers will join an international training program aiming at setting the theoretical foundations of attosecond science and physics of intense light-matter interaction, focusing on imaging molecular structures and electronic dynamics sub-femtosecond temporal and Angstrom-scale spatial resolution. Joining the CORINF ITN will not only mean undertake work as part of one research group, but being part of a broader network with wider training and research opportunities. The network consists of eleven partners and four associated partners, each of whom will bring their own specific skillsets to the project. More information can be found at www.corinf.eu
The project will be focused on the theoretical study of the coupled electron-nuclear dynamics in polyatomic molecules by using single ultrashort XUV/X-ray pulses and different combinations of pump-probe pulses.
It will be developed jointly among UAM and UniTS, in collaboration with other ITN nodes (Humboldt Univ.). The recruited researcher shall spend 12 months in Madrid and 12-months in Trieste, and will have a different research contract in each University.
Remuneration: Gross annual salary amounts to minimum 56.400 € (subject to deduction of the contribution to the social security of the employer and the employee, and the national income taxes) plus contributions to the mobility and travel expenses. These amounts shall be corrected by a factor of 1,016 (in Spain) and 1,115 (in Italy), in accordance with the Marie Curie fellowships applicable regulations. The researcher will be also entitled for a career exploratory allowance (2.000 €)
Eligibility criteria: At the time of selection, applicants must:
(i) hold a PhD in Theoretical/Computational Physics or Chemistry
(ii) have less than 5 years research experience (including PhD)
(iii) not have resided or carried out their main activity in either SPAIN or ITALY for more than 12 months during the past 3 years.
Selection Criteria: The selection will be made on the basis of demonstrated knowledge in:
1. Computational physics/chemistry methodologies and techniques
2. Theoretical atomic and molecular physics / Quantum Chemistry
3. Programming skills and code development
4. Previous experience in either photoionization, collision physics, ultrashort laser pulses
Procedure: Interested applicants should send a CV, motivation letter, and the completed application form (downloadable from http://web.uam.es/departamentos/ciencias/quimica/spline/openings.html) to email@example.com before June 15th, 2012
Applications will be considered and verified as they came. Selected candidates shall be contacted for an interview. BSc and PhD certificates and transcript of records will be required.
